Home Brew Audio

БогородицаиконографияMy wife and I recently met Ken Theriot at NAMS in Atlanta and had a great jam session out by the pool at the hotel. We even had a virtual camp fire courtesty of Kirstin Eckstein and her netbook! ( No “Kum By Yah” was sung during the sing-a-long )

A little about Ken…

Ken and his wife Lisa are very talented singer/songwriters performing original music in a “current middle ages” style. Here is a summary from their site at Raven Boy Music

The musicians of Raven Boy Music are “bards” in the renaissance re-creation group, the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). We have something for everybody, from those who listen to good music (on the long drive to an event or faire, perhaps!) to those who want to learn and perform our songs, to those looking for sheet music and guitar tutorial videos.

About “Home Brew Audio”…

Another one of Ken’s endeavors is a great blog on recording quality audio at home. For all of you wanting to learn more about audio recording with your computer, check out
Home Brew Audio

Though I have been playing music and recording for quite a while I am learning a lot from Ken’s great articles and how-to videos. If you are looking at doing voice over work, songwriting, recording projects for your self or others, Home Brew Audio has a wealth of great information for you!

Banjo Therapy

I have played guitar and bass for years but have always had a hankering’ to play the 5 string banjo. Lately, I have been taking lessons and really enjoying it! I have found out that this “wild and crazy guy” was right about banjo music…  “The banjo is such a happy instrument–you can’t play a sad song on the banjo – it always comes out so cheerful.” -Steve Martin.

Our great American humorist, Mark Twain,  put it like this: ” When you want genuine music – music that will come right home to you like a bad quarter, suffuse your system like strychnine whiskey, go right through you like Brandreth’s pills, ramify your whole constitution like the measles, and break out on your hide like the pinfeather pimples on a picked goose – when you want all this, just smash your piano, and invoke the glory-beaming banjo!”

So, if you are feelin’ a little down, get our your banjo and pick some rolls. I guarantee your troubles will melt away and you will be healed of all your sad thoughts…. And if you don’t own a banjo, go to Banjo.com and getcha one!
